Check out my Thursday (1-22-26) Gulfstream Park Race 8 analysis below.
GP 8 (Clm-35k, 4&up, 6.5f dirt) – Post Time 3:51 PM ET
Primary – #7 MISH, #1 Mr. Peeks
Secondary – #4 I Don’t Get It, #8 Speak Easy
Horse Comments:
#7 Mish (7-2) finished an even 4th of 12 as the beaten favorite at TAM on Jan. 3. The 9-year-old gelding has struck eight times at Gulfstream and he might bounce back in his second start off a short layoff for Saffie Joseph, Jr. The early-pressing gelding reconnects with his winning pilot Irad Ortiz, Jr.
#1 Mr. Peeks (6-1) might be aggressively handled from the inside post. He sports a pair of local wins and he missed by a neck at this course and distance under Thursday’s rider Miguel Vazquez on Oct. 26.
#4 I Don’t Get It (9-2) was part of the trifecta in his last seven dirt attempts. He turns back in distance and ran well in back-to-back allowance races at this distance (December 2024, January 2025). Michael Maker is his new trainer and he will try to get involved from off the pace under Tyler Gaffalione.
#8 Speak Easy (2-1) cuts back in distance and drops out of the OC-62.5k ranks. He won his first two career starts in 2024 and lost all eight starts since. He will probably stalk the pace from the outside post under his new rider Junior Alvarado.
