Check out my Sunday (1-25-26) Santa Anita Park Race 7 analysis below.

SA 7 (Baffle, 6.5T hillside) – Post Time 6:35 PM ET
Primary – #3 HEY NAY NAY, #7 Later Than Planned
Secondary – #2 Greenwich Village, #4 Cal’s Goal

Horse Comments:

#3 Hey Nay Nay (2-1) wired the field as the favorite in his first two starts at 5T including a 7-length romp in the Tyro. John Sadler’s $300k purchase stretched out, pressed the pace, and won the Del Mar Juvenile Turf by a length and a half. He was 6-1 in the G1 BC Juvenile Turf and he pressed from post 13 and weakened to 10th (beaten 7.5 lengths). He was the 1-2 favorite in the Cecil B. DeMille (G3) at 8T Nov. 30 and he rallied for the show (beaten a length) from the outside post. He turns back and Hector Berrios is 2-for-2 with him, and he is 2-for-2 in turf sprints.

#7 Later Than Planned (7-2) turned back and won the local Speakeasy at 5T in September and runner-up Bacio was a next-out winner. He split a 12-horse field as a 47-1 longshot in the G1 BC Turf Sprint last time. Phil D’Amato’s late runner needs pace help.

#2 Greenwich Village (9-5) dueled and scored by a half-length in his LRC dirt sprint debut in December. He pressed and weakened to last of 5 as at 8-1 odds in the G2 San Vicente second time out. Baffert excels with the blinkers off move and the $350k Quality Road colt drilled a local half-mile bullet for this Jan. 21. He reunites with his winning pilot Juan Hernandez and he might be the one to catch.

#4 Cal’s Goal (5-1) is a CA-bred gelding and he ran well in all three state bred turf sprints. He was 14-1 in his local 6T bow and he stalked the pace and landed the show, and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He was the favorite at 6.5T second time out and he dueled and graduated by 4 lengths. He cut back to five panels and rallied for the win when last seen Nov. 23.
