#11 Counterbalance (7-2) was an even 4th of 9 as a 37-1 longshot in her dirt sprint bow at DMR last summer. She stretched out, moved to turf, and pressed the pace and split a 10-horse field (beaten 2 lengths) at 2-1 odds Sept. 5, and winner Brave Deb clicked right back in the G3 Surfer Girl in October. She turned back as the favorite at 5T Nov. 28 and she stalked wide from the outside post and was second best, and show finisher Miss Donna was a next-out winner. She adds lasix and Kazushi Kimura is 2-for-4 with Michael McCarthy recently.
#8 Mo Sasha (8-1) is a $400k Constitution filly and she had a local half-mile gate work for this Jan. 24. Juan Hernandez seemingly chose Michael McCarthy’s FTS over Bob Baffert’s first timer #9 She’s Limitless (6-1). The latter, a $250k Caracaro filly, fired a 5f bullet for this at Los Al Jan. 10.
#2 Novita Dominga (8-1) is a $525k Not This Time filly and her dam Dominga was a turf route stakes winner and this is her first starter. Hector Berrios wins races with John Sadler and she drilled a 5f bullet for this back on Dec. 23.
