Horse Comments:
#2 Marian Cross (9-2) is a 4-year-old filly with early-pressing speed and she won a pair of turf sprints last year. She moved to the Brendan Walsh barn and battled with Slang and settled for the place as the beaten favorite, and that runner scored again as the 3-2 favorite on Aug. 16. This filly should be all over the pace at a speed friendly distance and she might have more to offer in her third start of the year.
#3 Atlantic Passage (6-1) was 7-2 in her local debut in the slop (off the turf) and she rallied from the inside post to win by 3+ lengths. She stretched out, set the pace, and weakened to 6th of 8 at 8T July 26. She turns back and still has upside.
#6 Little Sister Sue (10-1) rallied for the show in the Slang-Marian Cross turf sprint July 14. She caught the slop and was 5th of 7 July 28 and the 1-2 finishers were next-out winners. She is back on turf in her third start after a layoff and she might be able to rally for a minor award.
#11 Mo for Us (3-1) was part of the trifecta in nine of eleven dirt starts. Dam has tossed a turf winner and she is a logical contender if she handles the footing.
#1 Stormy Paradise (20-1) smartly wired the field in a MSW affair as the favorite at 5T Aug. 16. Apprentice rider Summer Pauly is 5-for-9 with Ed Moger, Jr. and eight of those runners finished in the top three. She should impact the pace from the inside post.
