Check out my Monday (9-8-25) Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 3 analysis below.
IND 3 (Alw-46240k/2L, F&M, 1 mile 70 yards dirt) – Post Time 3:12 PM ET
Primary – #6 SURPRISE, #1 Calamity
Secondary – #4 Spun Up, #3 Shezalittlestinker
Horse Comments:
#6 Surprise (5-2) stretched out to a mile after a pair of extended sprints and she stalked the pace and easily earned her diploma by 3 1/2 lengths as the favorite last time. Brad Cox’s $325k Good Magic filly is fresh and on the upswing, and her winning rider Fernando De La Cruz is 11-for-25 with this outfit. She is lightly raced and has upside, and she projects a stalking trip.
#1 Calamity (2-1) was the beaten favorite in four straight races February through May. She was the favorite again in a local off the turf affair at this distance on June 16 and she chased slow fractions and won by 5+ lengths vs. three opponents. She earned a decent number last time but I am not sure about the strength of that race and I like her stablemate a bit more.
#4 Spun Up (5-1) split an 8-horse field in a $50k/2L affair at Ellis Park on July 21 and Cipriano Contreras claimed her that day. She figures to stalk the pace and won’t not have to run much faster to compete with these.
#3 Shezalittlestinker (4-1) might be the one to catch. She wired the field in a MSW dirt sprint at Ellis Park on July 5, and dueled and weakened in an allowance dirt sprint Aug. 4. She stretches back out in her third start after a layoff.
