Check out my Monday (1-12-26) Sunland Park Race 7 analysis below.

SUN 7 (Alw-40.3k, 3&up, 4.5f dirt) – Post Time 5:04 PM ET
Primary – #3 BYE BYE LIAM, #5 Tizlightning
Secondary – #1 Coastal Jazz, #2 Competitive Idea

Horse Comments:

#3 Bye Bye Liam (9-2) always finishes in the top three at Sunland (6 3-2-1). He won at this distance last May and this is his third start off a short layoff.

#5 Tizlightning (5-2) had his 2-race win streak snapped when finishing 6th of 8 as the beaten favorite Jan. 4. He likes this abbreviated distance and Alfredo Juarez, Jr. is 8-for-20 with recently hot trainer Dick Cappellucci (5-for-8 at Sunland).

#1 Coastal Jazz (5-1) was 3rd and 5th in his last two starts at Turf Paradise. The 8-year-old gelding won at Albuquerque in October under Monday’s rider Alejandro Medellin and he should be forwardly placed from the inside post.

#2 Competitive Idea (3-1) stalked and scored at Zia Park in November and he ended up a neck behind Bye Bye Liam last time. The 5-time local winner might bounce back for sharp conditioner Dick Cappellucci.
