Oceanside Stakes Recap (7-10-20) – Winner: Hit the Road ($5.20)
The pace was lively with Silardi, Margot’s Boy, and Tizamagician up front early. Hit the Road saved ground stalking the pace behind those three. He waited for racing room turning for home, and he found an opening and scooted home to score by a bit less than two lengths. Kandarel rallied for the place and Ajourneytofreedom finished 3rd. Rookie Mistake was next in 4th and I’m Leaving You was 5th. Margot’s Boy weakened to 6th and my top choice K P All Systems Go was right behind him in 7th. The latter had an odd journey. He was next-to-last early and launched a premature wide move on the backside. He continued wide in the lane and flattened out. I am playing him back. He had a shot to at least run 2nd if he was able to sit back a make a late run. Heywoods Beach was 8th, followed by Silardi, Tizamagician, El Tigre Terrible, and Howbeit.

Wickerr Stakes Recap (7-11-20) – Winner: Bob and Jackie ($18.40)
Kiwi’s Dream set the pace from the rail and almost stole this one. Bob and Jackie was making his first start since late 2019, and he stalked in 3rd, came after the early leader, and got up late to prevail by a neck. Kiwi’s Dream held 2nd, and my 14-1 top choice Murad Khan stalked wide throughout and finished 3rd. Big Score was right behind him in 4th, and pace presser Voodoo Song weakened to 5th. Souter was next, and behind him were Jasikan, New Year, and Bolo.

Osunitas Stakes Recap (7-12-20) – Winner: Cordiality ($18.40)
Pace made the race in this flat mile turf affair. Cordiality was all alone up front under Rispoli, and by the time they came after her at the six furlong mark, it was basically over. The runner with the best shot was post time favorite Super Patriot, but she was left with a bit too much to do. The late running chalk was motoring in the lane and came up a length short. Don’t Blame Judy likes to pick up minor awards, and she completed the trifecta. Sedamar stalked and ended up an even 4th, and Meal Ticket, Desert Oasis, and Ziarah trailed.
July 12 Claims: Race 2 – Big Buzz ($40k, Adam Kitchingman), Cupid’s Claws ($40k, Bob Hess Jr.), Dubby Dubbie ($40k, Juan Leyva), Kazan ($40k, Javier Sierra). Race 5 – Strike It Lucky ($20k, Doug O’Neill).
