Check out my Santa Anita Park race 6 analysis for 1-21-24 below.

SA 6 (Astra, 12T)
Primary – #5 DUVET DAY, #3 Lakota Spirit
Secondary – #6 Linda’s Gift, #2 Leisurewear
Wagers: #5 to win, Exacta box 3-5, Trifecta 3-5/2-3-5-6/2-3-5-6

Comments: #5 Duvet Day (5-2) makes her first start since finishing 4th in the G3 San Juan Capistrano at 1 3/4 miles. She rallied to win this race last year under Kimura and was 3rd in the Santa Ana (G3) and a close 2nd in the Santa Barbara. #3 Lakota Spirit (5-2) was part of the exacta in her last four starts. She stalked from the inside post and was second best as the favorite in the Robert Frankel (G3) at 9T Dec. 30. #6 Linda’s Gift (2-1) stole the Red Carpet (G3) at 11T at DMR Nov. 23, and I am not completely sold on her at longer distances after that very soft trip last time. She is a logical contender if she can get out there and dictate terms again, but can she run a winning race at a marathon distance with a different trip? I would not want to take a short price to find out. #2 Leisurewear (5-1) had her 7-race trifecta streak snapped when finishing up the track after chasing the pace in a flat mile turf race in her last start (June 2023). She goes from Alsagoor to Prat and D’Amato’s returnee should be forwardly placed.
