Check out my Golden Gate race 7 analysis for 2-10-24 below.
GG 7 (El Camino Real Derby, 9f)|
Primary – #6 ENDLESSLY, #8 Guy Named Joe
Secondary – #3 Wild Jewels
Wagers: #6 to win, Exacta 6/3-8, Exacta 3-8/6
Comments: This is a win and you’re in race for the Preakness Stakes (must be Triple Crown nominee). #6 Endlessly (2-1) rallied to win his first three turf routes including the G3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf and G3 Zuma Beach. He stalked wide and came up empty in the G1 BC Juvenile Turf last time. He tries all-weather ground for Michael McCarthy and Rispoli is his new pilot. He is nominated to the Triple Crown and reminds me of Rombauer (also trained by McCarthy). The latter won this race in 2021 and upset the Preakness Stakes at 11-1 odds later that spring. #8 Guy Named Joe (5-1) was unplaced in his dirt sprint bow and picked up minor awards in three straight flat mile turf races after that. He rallied for the win as the even money favorite in a one mile maiden race on turf at SA Dec. 29. O’Neill’s recent graduate should get pace to chase. #3 Wild Jewels (5-1) came up empty in the Cal Cup Derby on dirt Jan. 13. He won three straight local races on all-weather ground prior to his last including the Golden Nugget and Gold Rush. He will probably stalk the pace and might get first run.
