Comments: #2 Cali Bay (3-1) fired trifecta shots in his last three turf routes. He stalked and scored in a $32k/2L affair as the favorite last summer at DMR, and rallied for the show in a local $25k affair Oct. 14. He switched to Prat and smartly won a local $25k claimer Nov. 12. D’Amato’s sharp, versatile gelding might score again. #3 Giovinazzo (5-1) won three races last year at one mile and two were on turf. The early runner went all the way in a $25k/2L dirt route Nov. 24 and Eurton claimed him that day. He returned to turf and was second best after setting the pace under Fresu Dec. 31 (show finisher Flavius next-out winner). #10 Comradery (6-1) rallied to finish a clear 2nd in a fast local $25k claimer at 8T Jan. 1, and stalked and scored by a neck vs. starter allowance foes Jan. 15. #7 Midnight Jostar (4-1) slipped and fell in the G2 Whittingham last spring and this is his first start in 10+ months. You never know how they will react when they return from a scary incident. He might get involved late.
