Comments: #4 Il Miracolo (9-2) was in too deep in the Pegasus World Cup (G1) Jan. 27. He stalked the pace from post 10 and split a 12-horse field that day (beaten 14 lengths). He fired trifecta shots in five straight stakes starts prior to his last including a victory in the Grade 3 Smarty Jones. He has struck twice at this course and distance, and the versatile Gun Runner colt has the speed and numbers to win this. #5 Tumbarumba (8-5) sat a nice tactical trip and held off Castle Chaos (scratched) and Steal Sunshine to win by a nose in the Fred Hooper last time. This race is lacking front end speed and he will likely chase the pace under Saez. #3 Steal Sunshine (5-2) has a good overall record at this course and distance. He showed nice late interest in a close show finish in the local Fred Hooper (G3) at one mile Jan. 27. He is capable of getting involved earlier and can go better in his third start after a layoff. #8 Gilmore (15-1) is the other horse exiting the Hooper. He had early trouble, raced outside, and never got seriously involved. I liked him on multiple occasions last year and think he is talented enough to get a piece of the purse. He has struck twice at this distance and Gaffalione is his new rider.
