Check out my Sunday (4-7-24) Race 5 analysis at Santa Anita Park below.
SA 5 (John Shear, 6.5T hillside)
Primary – #4 HEART HEADED, #1 King of Gosford
Secondary – #2 Miracle Mark, #7 Practically Broke
Horse Comments:
#4 Heart Headed (8-5) switched to turf, stalked from the inside post, and missed by a head as my top choice in the local Baffle at this trip Feb. 17, and winner Stay Hot scored again in the Pasadena March 16. Hernandez knows him now and he is a dangerous early-pressing contender from a comfortable post.
#1 King of Gosford (3-1) added blinkers and lasix in his US bow in a local optional-claiming heat at 6T March 10, and he dueled and edged clear to score by 1 3/4 lengths. Fresu takes the call and he should be forwardly placed from the inside post. He probably allow the speed horses on the outside to duke it out early.
#2 Miracle Mark (6-1) was competitive in his last four turf starts at one mile. He turns back and should get pace to chase.
#7 Practically Broke (5-1) is the outside speed. He wired subsequent stakes winner E J Won the Cup in his 5T bow last fall. Glatt has good stats with this type of layoff runner and Rispoli is his new pilot.
