Check out my Saturday (4-27-24) Race 9 analysis at Santa Anita below.

SA 9 (G3 Royal Heroine, 8T)
Primary – #3 BELLABEL, #8 Stay and Scam
Secondary – #1 Miss Lizzy, #7 Uncorked, #2 Lakota Spirit

Horse Comments:

#3 Bellabel (5-1) had a rare off the board finish in the Grade 2 Buena Vista on March 3. She could not keep pace with controlling speed Ruby Nell last time, and show finisher Nadette returned to dazzle in the Wilshire (G3) on April 4. This one shipped to the states and won two stakes in 2022, missed all of 2023, and returned with a front running score in the Grade 3 Megahertz at this course/distance on Feb. 3. The versatile sort can be placed anywhere and Antonio Fresu is a sharp pilot.

#8 Stay and Scam (5-2) always runs her early-pressing race on turf. She won a turf sprint stakes race on March 17, and stretched out, set the pace, and settled for the place as the beaten favorite in the Wilshire on April 4. She is probably the one to catch.

#1 Miss Lizzy (6-1) was part of the trifecta in her last six starts. The 3-time local winner rallied to win at this distance last fall, and hit the board in her last two turf sprint stakes. Hector Berrios rides her well and she should get pace to chase.

#7 Uncorked (3-1) moves to the Phil D’Amato barn and this is her first start since November 2023. She was third by a length when last seen in the Forever Together Stakes at Aqueduct. Frankie Dettori takes the call and this mare owns running style versatility.

#2 Lakota Spirit (6-1) ran last as a 50-1 outsider in the Buena Vista on March 3. She was part of the exacta in four straight races last year and Saturday’s rider Juan Hernandez was aboard for those sharp efforts. Phil D’Amato’s mare fits with these on her best day.

Wagers:
