Check out my Wednesday (5-29-24) Penn National Race 1 analysis below.
Penn National Race 1 (Alw-1x, Purse $36k, PA-bred f&m 3&up, 6f dirt) – Post Time – 5:45pm EDT
Primary – #1 ROCK N REWARD. #4 Warrior’s Defense
Secondary – #7 Back Forty
Horse Comments:
#1 Rock N Reward (9-2) makes her first start since October 2023 and her new trainer Brandon Kulp excels with this type of layoff runner. She took money, stalked the pace, and missed by a head in her all-weather sprint bow, and the top two were miles clear of the rest. She battled on the pace and prevailed by a neck at 20 cents on the dollar second time out at Presque Isle, and she has not been seen since. She has been stabled at Penn National for many months and adds lasix for the first time.
#4 Warrior’s Defense (6-1) smartly wired the field in a $25k maiden claimer on March 1, and showed brief early foot before fading in a similar local sprint less than two weeks later. Rock N Reward’s stablemate has been freshened for this and might bounce back at playable odds.
#7 Back Forty (8-5) is very reliable, She raced at Penn National seven times and she was in the top three in all of those races. She was clearly second best vs. this kind on May 9 and figures to stalk the pace from the outside post.
