Check out my Wednesday (7-10-24) Presque Isle Downs Race 8 analysis below.
PID 8 (Clm-8k, 3&up, 6.5f all-weather) – Post Time 6:09pm EDT
Primary – #7 SAMURAI LEGACY, #3 Joe Phillips
Secondary – #2 City Tripper, #6 Tapsolution
Horse Comments:
#7 Samurai Legacy (7-2) is probably the one to catch. He wired the field in three local sprints last year including a one-length tally at this level and distance in August. He set the pace and weakened in both local sprints this year, and might hang around longer in his third start after a long layoff.
#3 Joe Philips (5-2) drops, turns back, and returns to all-weather ground. He won an all-weather sprint at Turfway in January and hit the board in his next two starts at that venue. He will try to get involved from off the pace under his new rider Pablo Morales.
#2 City Tripper (9-2) stalked wide from the outside post and landed the place in a similar local sprint at 13-1 odds on June 24. He won three local sprints last year and is back in good form, and he figures to chase the pace in his third start after a layoff.
#6 Tapsolution (3-1) set the pace and missed by a neck vs. three foes at this course, distance, and level on June 5, and ran last as the beaten favorite on June 24. His last win was on 2-8-23, and he has lost all 18 starts since (7 minor awards). I like him more underneath.
