Check out my Tuesday (7-30-24) Presque Isle Downs Race 7 analysis below.

PID 7 (Alw-32k/1x, 3&up, 1 1/8 miles all-weather) – Post Time 5:42pm EDT

Primary – #6 TAP THE SKY, #7 Fred George
Secondary – #5 Epic Knight, #2 Tempus

Horse Comments:

#6 Tap the Sky (7-2) won back-to-back local claiming routes on June 5 and June 18, and stalked the pace and held the show behind a runaway winner on July 9. Meant to Be Lucky got a clear lead in that July 9 affair and won by 8 1/4 lengths. This 3-year-old gelding was chasing above par fractions and was well clear of the rest after a half-mile, and I thought he hung in there nicely to save the show. The pace should be more controlled this time and he figures to make his presence felt from the outset.

#7 Fred George (9-5) fired exacta shots in his last four local routes. He controlled the pace in his easy local maiden win on June 10, and chased the pace and settled for the place in his other three starts here. He saved ground and ended up a length in front of Tap the Sky as the beaten chalk last time. The $425k purchase will probably stalk the pace.

#5 Epic Knight (10-1) might be a good horse to use underneath at a price in the exotics. He returned to synthetic ground and rallied from last to pick up the place in a local slow early/fast late event on June 18. Harty’s improving sophomore colt might have another forward move in him in his third start after a layoff.

#2 Tempus (6-1) packs a decent late kick in local routes. He can rally for a share.
