Horse Comments:
#2 Makeup (7-2) set the pace and was clearly second best in her dirt sprint bow in the mud last summer, and switched to turf and smartly wired the field at this distance at Keeneland second time out last fall. She returned in a local turf sprint on July 13 and was bumped at the start and rallied from off the pace to score. This race is lacking front end speed and her versatility should serve her well in this spot.
#7 Quimichis (3-1) was part of the exacta in her last four turf sprints. She was no match for Niki Nine Doors last time but ran on nicely for the place. She is right with these on numbers and should make her presence felt in the lane.
#1 Niki Nine Doors (9-5) won two turf sprints but was nowhere in her other four starts and has yet to run two alike. I like her early-pressing versatility but she is tough to completely trust at low odds, and the inside post is just 1-for-19 at this distance.
