Check out my Monday (9-23-24) Finger Lakes Race 7-8 analysis below.

FL 7 ($132k Aspirant, NY-bred 2-year-olds, 5.5f dirt) – Post Time 3:54 PM ET
Primary – #4 BOSTONTONIAN, #8 Soontobeking
Secondary – #2 Mr. Sugar Daddy

Horse Comments:

#4 Bostontonian (5-2) battled on the pace as the favorite and graduated by a length and a half in his debut at Churchill on June 22. This is a speed friendly distance and he might be the one to catch.

#8 Soontobeking (9-5) stalked the pace, led, and missed by a nose as a 12-1 longshot in the Funny Cide at Saratoga on Aug. 25. He projects an outside stalking trip in his third start after a layoff.

#2 Mr. Sugar Daddy (7-2) was 3-1 in his local bow on Aug. 14 and he smartly went all the way. He has strong local connections in his corner and should be all over the pace.

Wagers:

#4 to win

Exacta 4/2-8

Exacta 2-8/4

Double (races 7-8): 4-2

Double (races 7-8): 4/2-4-8

FL 8 ($50k Leon Reed Memorial, NY-bred 3up, 6f dirt) – Post Time 4:23 PM ET
Primary – #2 ROTKNEE
Secondary – #8 Pompous Prince, #4 Allure of Money

Horse Comments:

#2 Rotknee (7-2) stumbled at the start, chased Looms Boldly, and faltered as the beaten favorite in the John Morrissey on Aug. 8. He competed at Finger Lakes once and that was a victory in the Ontario County in 2022. He sports a pair of state bred stakes wins this year and might be the one to catch under Andre Worrie.

#8 Pompous Prince (10-1) failed to crack the top three in his last two starts at Saratoga. He was part of the exacta in 5 of 6 local outings and drilled a local bullet for this on Sept. 17. He figures to stalk the pace from the outside post for a productive jockey-trainer team.

#4 Allure of Money (12-1) turns back in distance and makes his first start as a gelding for his new trainer Charlton Baker. He is 7-for-11 at Finger Lakes and 2-for-4 at this distance.
