Check out my Sunday (9-29-24) Santa Anita Park Race 9 analysis below.
SA 9 (G2 SA Sprint Championship, 6f) – Post Time 8:03 PM ET
Primary – #7 FOR ALL MANKIND, #5 Straight No Chaser
Secondary – #1 Fort Bragg
Horse Comments:
#7 For All Mankind (2-1) is the now horse exiting a strong front running win in a 5.5f optional-claiming dash at DMR. That was his first dirt start and he clearly loved the surface switch. He drew the comfortable outside post and fired a local bullet for this on Sept. 20.
#5 Straight No Chaser (9-5) is capable of big efforts on the front end but is not the most reliable performer. He is 4-for-8 overall and was the beaten favorite on three occasions. This is his first start since May and John Velazquez was aboard for two of his big wire job wins last year. He fired a local 5f bullet for this on Sept. 22.
#1 Fort Bragg (8-5) makes his first start in 9+ months and he seems best between 6.5f and a one-turn mile. He reunites with his winning rider Juan Hernandez and he completed the trifecta in this race last year. Bob Baffert’s early-pressing colt drilled a DMR bullet for this on Sept. 6 and he can compete with these if he can overcome the inside post.
