Check out my Monday (11-11-24) Turf Paradise Race 7 analysis below.
TUP 7 (OC-15k, 8f dirt) – Post Time 5:34 PM ET
Primary – #8 LUTHER PASS
Secondary – #3 Awesome Road, #7 Surroundedbyangels
Horse Comments:
#8 Luther Pass (3-1) finished in the top three in 7 of 8 maiden starts. He moved to the Justin Evans barn and got over the hump in the slop as the favorite at Emerald Downs Aug. 24. I picked him on top more than once in California and he ran quality races on multiple occasions at Del Mar and Santa Anita. I like his early-pressing versatility, barn shows a profit with recent grads trying winners for the first time, and he should make his presence felt throughout for a productive jockey-trainer team.
#3 Awesome Road (9-5) was once considered a Kentucky Derby hopeful and I played him in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) in 2023, but he was nowhere in those races, and his Derby dreams ended with another drubbing in the Southwest (G3) earlier this year. He won his sprint bow and lost all eight routes since (1 show finish). He used to be in the Brad Cox barn and Robertino Diodoro took over the training duties in the spring, and the change of scenery did not help. The $600k Quality Road gelding is not in great form but drops out of the stakes ranks and his overall numbers make him a threat in this spot.
#7 Surroundedbyangels (6-1) fired trifecta shots in 5 of 7 dirt attempts. He stretches back out and should attend the pace. The sophomore gelding landed the place in his lone local start.
