Del Mar Recap for Friday (11-8-24)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners at six panels on dirt. On the turf course, a 2-1 stalker graduated at 5f, a 2-1 front runner won at 5f, a stalking favorite scored at 8f, and a stalking favorite earned her diploma in the 5f finale (rail at 30 feet). 

Steve Miyadi saddled two turf sprint winners. 

Nov. 8 Claims: Race 1 – Mission Beach ($40k, Steve Knapp), Where’s the Loot ($40k, Craig Dollase). Race 3 – Shot of Courage ($20k, Sergio Ledezma). Race 7 – California Tiger ($25k, Sean Williams).   

The $1 Pick 6 pool was $93,636 and tickets with six winners paid $945.70. Tickets with five winners paid $13.80.

Del Mar Recap for Saturday (11-9-24)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One dueling front running sprint winner at 5 1/2 panels on dirt. On the turf course, a stalking favorite graduated in the 8f opener, another stalking favorite scored at one mile, a 7-1 presser dueled and won from the inside post at 5f, a 15-1 midpack stalker tallied at 8.5f, and a 4-1 midpack stalker captured the flat mile finale (rail at 18 feet). 

Hat trick for Kazushi Kimura (2 dirt sprints). 

Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-9-24 

Cary Grant Stakes (CA-bred, 7f): Everything went right for strong favorite Big City Lights. Curlin’s Kaos and Man O Rose hooked up early, and Big City Lights ($3.80) sat in third, scooted up the rail, and powered away to win by 8 1/2 lengths for Kimura/Mandella. Man O Rose was second best and Moose Mitchell edged Curlin’s Kaos for the show. None Above the Law trailed throughout and the final time was 1:21.39. 

Nov. 9 Claims: Race 2 – Joint Venture ($20k, Doug O’Neill). Race 3 – Empress Ellie ($25k, Peter Miller), Sareeha ($25k, Mark Glatt). Race 9 – Enjoy It Strait ($20k, Sean Williams). 

The $1 Pick 6 pool was $120,884 and tickets with six winners paid $36,902.60. Tickets with five winners paid $185.20.

Del Mar Recap for Sunday (11-10-24)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at one mile on dirt. On the turf course, a flat mile last-to-first closer in a 5-horse field rallied to graduate at 7-1 odds, a 6-1 midpack stalker scored at 5f, and a 7-2 stalker won at 8.5f (rail at 18 feet). 

Hector Berrios (routes) and Juan Hernandez (dirt) both booted home a pair. 

Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-10-24

Betty Grable (CA-bred, 7f): Pushiness set the pace as expected but she could not keep it together in the stretch in this extended sprint (21.88, 44.51). Big Summer chased the early leader and made her move in the lane, and Del Mar specialist Chismosa was patiently handled early under Tiago Pereira. The latter moved up with three furlongs to go, and she came after Big Summer and Pushiness in the stretch. Chismosa ($7.80) fought hard late and edged Big Summer by a neck, and those two were clear of a weakening Pushiness. Roberta’s Love, Safa, Irish Wahine, and Back On Track also ran. Rafael DeLeon saddled the winner and the final time was 1:22.74.   

Nov. 10 Claims: Race 3 – Gypsy Lynn ($10k, Jerry Wallace II). Race 6 – Bruckner ($20k, Lorenzo Campuzano). Race 7 – Cane Creek Road ($25k, Peter Miller). Race 9 – Phoenix Flying ($50k, John Sadler).    

The $1 Pick 6 pool was $157,223 and tickets with six winners paid $31,997.90. Tickets with five winners paid $269.60.
