Check out my Sunday (11-17-24) Del Mar Race 6 analysis below.

DMR 6 (MSW, 8f) – Post Time 6:00 PM ET
Primary – #8 RANK, #7 Mellencamp
Secondary – #1 Brother Tony, #3 Journalism

Horse Comments:

#8 Rank (9-2) rallied for the place behind Gaming in a local sprint Aug. 11, and finished up the track as a 50-1 outsider in the Del Mar Futurity (G1). He returned to the maiden ranks and rallied wide to finish a clear 2nd in a flat mile event at SA Oct. 14. Doug O’Neill’s Honor A. P. colt sports back-to-back local 5f bullets for this and he reunites with Antonio Fresu.

#7 Mellencamp (5-2) dueled and missed by a half-length in his SA sprint debut Oct. 27. Bob Baffert is strong with his first route starters and the $775k Constitution colt switches to barn $$ rider Juan Hernandez. He should be all over the pace.

#1 Brother Tony (8-1) finished 3rd in both MSW attempts and my top choice Rank was the runner-up in those races. Umberto Rispoli got to know him last time and it looks like he chose this one over #3 Journalism (7-2). The latter was 9-2 in his 5-horse dirt sprint bow and he rallied from last to complete the trifecta (Mellencamp 2nd). Michael McCarthy’s $825k Curlin colt is bred to go this far.
