#6 Kale’s Angel (5-2) is an interesting surface switcher for Peter Miller. He set a pressured pace and weakened to 6th of 9 in his turf sprint bow, and he removed blinkers, stalked the pace, and kicked away in a turf dash second time out. He stretched out and rallied mildly to split an 8-horse field in the Zuma Beach (G3) Oct. 6, and dueled and faded to 11th of 14 from post 10 as a 26-1 longshot in a turf route stakes race at Del Mar Nov. 1. He turns back in distance and might rebound if he handles dirt.
#4 Perfect Magic (5-1) was unplaced in his first two turf sprints, and the $300k Maclean’s Music colt moved to dirt, dueled on the lead, and kicked clear to graduate by 2 lengths at this distance Sept. 26. He may have wanted to run on dirt all along.
#5 Innovator (1-1) is a maiden after five starts for Wayne Lukas and he landed the place on three occasions. Bob Baffert’s highly regarded colt Barnes nipped him on the line Nov. 27, and this $900k Authentic colt is back quickly and should make his presence felt from the outset.
#2 Three Echoes (4-1) broke his maiden at first asking under the Twin Spires May 24, and he landed the show in his next four stakes outings. He finished up the track in the Clever Trevor at seven panels last time. This shorter distance helps and an inner stalking trip is expected.
