#5 Corningstone (2-1) chose this spot over Friday’s She’s All In Stakes at Remington Park, and her last three morning moves were at this venue. She finished in the top three in 8 of her last 9 starts and Ken McPeek’s consistent filly owns running style versatility. She was the betting favorite on four occasions this year and she lost three of those races. Last time, she was the beaten chalk in an even show finish and the runner-up was a next-out winner. This one is 1-for-1 at this distance and 0-for-3 with zero top three finishes at Oaklawn.
#4 Stellar Lily (8-1) also scratched out of the She’s All In. She dueled and weakened to 3rd of 6 (beaten 7 lengths) in her needed sprint return in the slop at Churchill Nov. 10 and the runner-up was a next-out winner. She stretches back out and should attend the pace, and she sports a pair of wins at this course and distance.
#6 Deck of Cards (5-2) had her 7-race win streak snapped when dueling and fading to 3rd of 6 (beaten 7 1/4 lengths) as the beaten favorite in an allowance dirt sprint at Horseshoe Indy Oct. 16. Mike Maker’s Nyquist mare is 5-for-7 at this distance and she reconnects with her winning rider Ramon Vazquez.
#7 Taxed (8-5) dropped her last eight stakes starts and will probably take more money than she should. Corningstone finished in front of her in the Locust Grove (G2) Sept. 14, and this one exits an okay 3rd of 8 (beaten 8 1/2 lengths) in the Chilukki (G3) Nov. 23. Her last two wins were in the optional-claiming ranks.
