Check out my Sunday (1-5-25) Oaklawn Park Race 9 analysis below.
OP 9 (Tinsel, 9f) – Post Time 5:22 PM ET
Primary – #4 FULL SCREEN, #3 Red Route One
Secondary – #1 Horace Mann, #7 Seize the Night
Horse Comments:
#4 Full Screen (3-1) stretched back out, stalked the pace, and won a fast local OC-50k/2x affair Dec. 13. Mark Casse is 5-for-9 at OP and this one might work out a nice trip behind the speed under his winning rider Ramon Vazquez.
#3 Red Route One (7-2) is a solid late runner for Steve Asmussen and he is 4-for-8 at this distance. He fired trifecta shots in 4 of 5 local starts including a win at this trip in the Bath House Row. He needs pace help and should get it.
#1 Horace Mann (5-2) is 3-for-4 with a show finish on dirt. He started his career on turf (1-for-8), and he was a sharp winner in an off the turf affair in the mud at Ellis Park July 4. He dueled and finished third as the beaten favorite at this trip Aug. 12, and he won his last two starts around one turn on fast dirt at Churchill. His dirt numbers are solid and he should make his presence felt from the outset, but others in here have early speed as well.
#7 Seize the Night (12-1) finished an okay fourth in this event last year. The 2-time local winner has won at this distance before and figures to stalk the pace from an outer post.
