Check out my Monday (1-6-25) Turf Paradise Race 7 analysis below.
TUP 7 (OC-40k/2x, 4&up, 6 1/2 furlongs dirt) – Post Time 5:04 PM ET
Primary – #1 DIAMOND RIM, #4 Coastal Jazz
Secondary – #7 Midnight Mammoth, #5 Truth Seeker
Horse Comments:
#1 Diamond Rim (4-1) is sharp and versatile. He pressed and scored at one mile Feb. 29, stalked and scored April 23, and closed from 7th and won again at 6f May 10. He returned from a layoff and rallied for the place in a local 5f dash Dec. 16. The 4-time local winner has struck at this distance before and he reconnects with his winning rider Karlo Lopez.
#4 Coastal Jazz (7-2) wired the field in a $25k claimer at Fresno Sept. 29, and he pressed, led, and landed the place in a $40k stakes race at this course and distance Nov. 14. He was the favorite in a local OC-25/1x sprint at this trip Dec. 11 and he went all the way from the inside post.
#7 Midnight Mammoth (5-2) won his last three dirt routes in California and this is his first start in more than five months. He pressed and scored vs. OC-50k/1x affair at 1 1/16 miles May 27, and he was all over the pace and scored in a starter allowance affair at LRC July 4. He was 9-1 in the Grade 3 Cougar II at 1 1/2 miles July 25 and he controlled the pace and aired by 10 lengths. His winning rider Armando Ayuso stays put and he might be using this sprint return as a prep for longer races down the road.
#5 Truth Seeker (9-2) exits back-to-back stakes races at Albuquerque. The late running 9-year-old gelding turns back and enjoys this oval (10 5-2-0).
