#5 Divine Miracle (4-1) is an 8-year-old gelding with 13 local wins. He fired trifecta shots in 9 of his last 10 starts. He won on Nov. 11 and Dec. 16, and dueled in the mud and was clearly second best Dec. 31. This one went 5-for-14 in 2024 and could easily start 2025 with a win.
#9 Just Call Ray (7-2) turned back and split an 8-horse field from the outside post in an extended sprint at LRL Dec. 6, and the show finisher was a next-out winner. He won a local optional-claimer at this distance in September and might move up in his second start after a layoff. Jamie Ness is strong with his second after the claim starters and Mychel Sanchez wins races with this outfit.
#7 Irish Exit (5-1) dueled and edged away by 2 1/2 lengths at this course/distance Nov. 20, and he dueled and weakened at AQU Dec. 13 (show finisher next-out winner). His winning rider Ruben Silvera stays put and he should impact the pace. The 8-time local winner has struck four times at this distance.
#3 Search Engine (9-2) won three of his last six starts and he has the speed to succeed. Horacio De Paz claimed him for $30k last time and the Maryland shipper makes his first start at Parx.
#6 Malibu Star (5-1) shipped to Penn National and looked good winning an optional-claiming dirt route at this distance Dec. 6. He sports eight local wins and is sharp enough to compete with these. The 8-year-old horse used to show speed but has been a closer since July.
