Horse Comments:
#9 Relampago Verde rallied from last of 11 to finish third in a similar off the turf route at Fair Grounds Dec. 26 (fast pace). That was his first start in more than five months and he figures to be much closer to slower fractions this time.
#14 Lightline started his career with a flat mile romp as the favorite in 2023. He landed the place in his next two starts, and stalked the pace and finished an even third in the Withers (G3). He was up the track in the Gotham (G3), and went to the sidelines after getting drubbed in the slop. He returned with lasix in a flat mile race in the mud at Aqueduct in November, and he went last-to-first. His new rider Geroux wins races with Brad Cox and he will try to get involved from off the pace.
#13 Winters Lion is 2-for-16 with seven minor awards on dirt. Jose Ortiz wins races with Joe Sharp and he should be heard from late.
#5 Le Gris dueled and weakened to 4th of 10 in the local slop in the Woodchopper Dec. 28. He romped in the slop at Fair Grounds last February and might be the one to catch.
