Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at 6f on dirt. On the turf course, a 1.80-1 stalker won the flat mile opener, a 5-2 closer went last-to-first at 6f, an 8-1 front runner scored at 6f, and a 9-2 closer tallied at one mile (rail at 30 feet).
Tiago Pereira guided home three sprint winners and two were on dirt. Steve Knapp saddled three dirt sprint winners and Pereira rode two.
The $2 Pick 6 pool was $38,414 and there were no tickets with six winners. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $4,397.60. There will be a Pick 6 carryover of $$20,522 when live racing resumes on Saturday.

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners at 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt. On the turf course, a last-to-first closer won the 6f opener at 9-1 odds, a 17-1 closer graduated from post 10 at 6.5f, patient favorite Atitlan got up by a head in the Charles Whittingham (G2) at a mile and a quarter, an 11-1 closer tallied at 9f, and a 17-1 stalker got the job done in the 6f finale.
Armando Aguilar and Armando Ayuso both booted home two winners.

Grade 2 Charles Whittingham (10T): Balladeer opened up early under Kent D but could not keep going. Packs a Wahlop chased from second, led, and was tagged late by strong favorite Atitlan ($3.20), and Dicey Mo Chara was another head back in third in a blanket finish. Balladeer weakened to fourth and City Exile (GB) and Maltese Falcon (IRE) also ran. Hector Berrios rode the winner for John Shirreffs. Fractions: 23.38, 47.59, 1:11.62, 1:35.78, 1:59.92.
The $2 Pick 6 pool was $106,365 and there were not tickets with six winners. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $785.40. There will be a Pick 6 carryover of $77,347 when live racing resumes on Sunday.

On the turf course, a 5-1 stalker graduated in the 9f opener, stalking favorite Mrs. Astor won the Santa Barbara at 1 1/2 miles, a 14-1 front runner tallied at 6f, a midpack stalking favorite won at one mile, and a last-to-first closing favorite captured the 6f finale (rail at 20 feet).
Armando Ayuso and Umberto Rispoli (turf routes) both guided home two winners.

Santa Barbara (12T): 17-1 outsider Sakura Blossom showed the way early but was not around at the end in this 5-horse field. Mrs. Astor ($4.20) was the strong favorite from the outside post, and bid for the lead with a a quarter of a mile to go and kicked clear to win by 5 lengths. Starry Heavens (IRE) just held off my 4-1 value top choice Sophisticate for the runner-up spot. Mahina was fourth and Sakura Blossom weakened to last. Umberto Rispoli rode the winner for Jonathan Thomas. Fractions: 23.54, 47.11, 1:11.54, 1:37.35, 2:02.69, 2:27.95.
The $2 Pick 6 pool was $905,798 and tickets with six winners paid $13,052.40. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $150.60.
