Horse Comments:
#5 Jerry’s Spirit (7-2) won his last three starts and has been popular at the claim box recently. He was claimed out of victories on March 22 and May 2, and Tim Yakteen is his new conditioner and he is a profitable 25% first after the claim. This is a horse for course oval and this gelding romped by 7 lengths in a local Mcl-40k dirt sprint September 2024. His numbers are on the rise and he owns early-pressing versatility at a speed friendly distance.
#2 Grubauer (7-5) finished in the top three in all nine starts. He won four straight races from November 2024 thru January of this year, and he stalked and missed by a neck in a clear runner-up finish at this distance on May 26. He drilled a half-mile bullet for this on June 12.
#4 Final Storm (5-2) likes this distance. He rallied to win by 2 1/4 lengths vs. CA-bred OC-20k/1x affair at this trip on April 20, and rallied for the place in the Thor’s Echo at six panels on May 24. Antonio Fresu got to know the late runner last time.
#6 Hard to Figure (6-1) removes blinkers for the productive Hernandez/Baffert team. The 1-for-17 gelding won the local Capote Stakes by 3 lengths in 2022 and has dropped all fourteen starts since.
