Santa Anita Recap for Friday (10-17-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Four front running winners on dirt (6f, 6f, 8f, 6f). On the turf course, a 5-2 stalker won the 6f opener, a 7-2 stalker tallied at 6.5f, a closing favorite graduated at 6f, and a stalking favorite scored at one mile (rail at 30 feet). 

Hat trick for Antonio Fresu (2 main track wins). Juan Hernandez guided home two turf sprint winners. John Sadler saddled two sprint winners. 

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $55,114 and tickets with six winners paid $4,206.20. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $70.00.

Santa Anita Recap for Saturday (10-18-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Four front running winners at six panels on dirt. On the turf course, a 13-1 stalker won the flat mile opener, a 5-2 front runner held on by a neck at 6f, 1 7-1 front runner graduated at one mile, a last-to-first closer graduated at 5-1 odds at 8f, and 2-1 stalker Sumpter won the Lure Stakes at one mile (rail at 10 feet). 

Kazushi Kimura and Umberto Rispoli both booted home a pair. 

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-18-25 

Lure Stakes (8T): Six horses broke from the gate and Goliad set the pace as expected but he folded, and his stablemate Sumter ($6.80) chased, took over, and won by 4 lengths under Mike Smith. St Anthony rallied for the place and Watsonville edged Goliad for the show. Mystic Spirit and beaten favorite Nesso’s Lasthurrah (hopped start, never got involved) also ran. Endlessly scratched. Richard Mandella saddled the winner. Fractions: 22.68, 44.95, 1:08.66, 1:20.38, 1:32.46.  

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $109,944 and tickets with six winners paid $29,368.00. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $375.60.

Santa Anita Recap for Sunday (10-19-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners on dirt (8f, 5.5f) . On the turf course, a front running favorite won the 6.5f opener, a 7-1 stalker scored at one mile, a 9-2 stalker tallied at 10f, and a 2-1 closer earned his diploma in the flat mile finale.  

Juan Hernandez (sprints) and Diego Herrera (routes) both saddled two winners. Bob Baffert saddled two sprint winners and Hernandez rode both.  

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-19-25 

Anoakia (6f): Himika ($3) was the 1-2 favorite and she was clearly best. She stalked from third, moved up outside, and pulled away to win by 4 1/4 lengths. Revera dueled from the inside post and was second best, and Stuffy Mist rallied for the show. Umbralle and fading first timer Heavenly Princess (eased) completed the order of finish. Juan Hernandez rode the popular winner for Bob Baffert. Fractions: 22.55, 45.65, 57.92, 1:10.40. 

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $76,227 and tickets with six winners paid $3,701.80. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $83.80.
