Horse Comments:
#1 Easy Wind (9-2) stalked and scored by a head in his turf sprint bow at Ellis Park. He was an even third in a turf sprint at Kentucky Downs second time out and the 1-2 finishes were next-out winners. He stalked, raced in traffic, and finished an even 5th of 9 (beaten 2 lengths) at 8T Sept. 28. Brendan Walsh is a profitable 18% with horses adding blinkers for the first time and Tyler Gaffalione takes the call. He might try to make the lead from the inside post.
#9 Expressway (7-2) tracked the pace and prevailed by a neck in his 6T bow and was an even fourth in the G3 Futurity at 6T Oct. 3. He earned the best last-race number Oct. 3 and stretches out after two sprints. Luis Saez is his new rider and Bill Mott’s Hard Spun colt is capable of winning this event if he handles the added ground.
#7 Fulleffort (5-2) is slowly getting better for Brad Cox. He was an even fourth in his July 21 bow and a close third as the beaten favorite Aug. 17. He stalked below par fractions and graduated by a length at KD Sept. 10 and the clear runner-up was a next-out winner. Irad Ortiz, Jr. hops aboard the $425k Liam’s Map colt and he can take this if he runs a bit faster.
#6 East Village (5-1) missed by a neck in his turf debut at Colonial Downs and he was placed first through disqualification. He was an even 4th of 9 in a similar local turf route second time out. Jose Ortiz is 4-for-8 with Ken McPeek and he might move up.
