Horse Comments:
#1 Westwood (7-2) was clearly second best in a MSW dirt route in March, and was a distant third in the G1 SA Derby and last of 4 in the Affirmed. He went back on lasix, returned to the maiden ranks, and went all the way Aug. 24 (slow early/fast late). The $700k Authentic gelding was 1.60-1 in a similar flat mile event at SA on Oct. 11 and he stalked the pace and was second best. He earned a good number last time, is back at his winning venue, and could easily get the job done for Berrios/Shirreffs.
#12 Clouseau (6-1) went back on lasix, returned to dirt, and rallied for the show from an outer post in a OC-50k/1x flat mile affair at DMR Sept. 6 (strong late pace rating). I picked him on top at SA on Oct. 5 and he rallied to edge Known Idea by a nose. Umberto Rispoli sticks with him and he needs pace to chase.
#9 Brazenly (9-2) likes settling for minor awards. The 4-for-38 gelding has not won since August 2024. Since that win, he is 0-for-16 with eleven minor placings and he hit the board in 8 his last 10 starts. The 7-year-old gelding moved to the Walden barn and was 7th of 8 as the even money favorite at CD Sept. 18, and he missed the place by a nose at BAQ Oct. 11.
#11 Legitimate (6-1) added lasix, caught a wet track, and aired by a dozen lengths when last seen in a flat mile MSW affair at SA in January. This is his first outing in 9+ months and his winning rider Flavien Prat stays put, and he had a local 5f move Oct. 26.
