Santa Anita Recap for Friday (10-24-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners at six panels on dirt. On the turf course, a stalking favorite won by a neck in the 8f opener, a front running first timer graduated at 6.5f, a closing favorite graduated at one mile, a 6-1 closer scored at 1 1/4 miles, and (rail at 30 feet).

Antonio Fresu (turf), Diego Herrera, and Kazushi Kimura (dirt sprints) each guided home three winners. Steve Knapp saddled two dirt sprint winners and Kimura rode both.

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $54,073 and tickets with six winners paid $28,888.20. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $1,375.60.

Santa Anita Recap for Saturday (10-25-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Three front running sprint winners on dirt (6.5f, 6f, 6f). On the turf course, a 3-1 stalker won the flat mile opener, stalking favorite Test Score won the Twilight Derby (G2) at 9f, a 4-1 stalker scored at 6.5f on the downhill course, and a 5-2 stalker tallied at 6.5f on the downhill course. 

Riding doubles for Antonio Fresu (dirt sprints) and Juan Hernandez (stakes routes). Steve Knapp saddled two sprint winners.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-25-25

Tokyo City Cup (8f): Pony Express got to the front from the inside post and Privman pressed from the outside post in this 4-horse sophomore stakes race. Pony Express started to edge away and looked home free in the stretch, but race favorite Privman ($3.80) came back in deep stretch and got up by 3/4ths of a length. Pony Express got a bit weary late and was clearly second best. Gaming was a clear third and Mining District trailed. Juan Hernandez rode the winner for Bob Baffert. Fractions: 22.71, 45.79, 1:09.78, 1:22.74, 1:36.21.

Grade 2 Twilight Derby (9T): Test Score ($3.20) was clearly best as the strong favorite. He stalked wide and won by a length and a half for Juan Hernandez and Graham Motion. Maaz (FR) rallied from last and came up the inside to secure the place. Namaron (GER) got a great inside run in the stretch but was not good enough and settled for the show. Septembersixtyfour made the running from the inside post and gradually weakened to finish fourth, and Scipio chased the pace and faded to last of 5. Fractions: 23.55, 47.81, 1:13.19, 1:36.65, 1:47.66.

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $113,409 and tickets with six winners paid $713.60. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $23.40.

Santa Anita Recap for Sunday (10-26-25)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running sprint winner at 5.5f on dirt. On the turf course, a stalking favorite graduated in the flat mile opener, a pressing favorite earned her diploma at one mile, a dueling favorite graduated at 6.5f, 5-1 closer Warming won the Autumn Miss (G3) at one mile, and a 17-1 stalker won the 6.5f meet finale on the downhill course.

Juan Hernandez booted home two turf route winners.

Santa Anita Park Stakes Recaps for 10-26-25

Grade 3 Autumn Miss (8T): A Thousand Miles was 95-1 and she set the pace and hung in there for quite some time, but my 5-1 top choice Warming had the best late energy and won by 1 3/4 lengths. A Thousand Miles was second best in a big effort and Precise Timing finished third at 71-1 odds, and 46-1 outsider Wink and a Grin completed the superfecta. Beaten favorite Slick (IRE), Take a Breath (GB), Firenze Flavor, Innovative, and Lee’s Baby Girl also ran. Juan Hernandez rode the winner for Graham Motion. Fractions: 22.78, 46.63, 1:11.48, 1:23.28, 1:34.44.   

Oct. 26 Claims: Race 2 – Speed Grazy ($20k, Antonio Garcia). Race 5 – Blue Cheese Olive ($5k, Ramon Gonzalez), Morello ($5k, Andrew Harris). Race 10 – Royal Charter ($50k, Jeff Mullins). 

The closing day $2 Pick 6 pool was $161,059 and there were no tickets with six winners. Tickets with five winners paid $12,292.00.
