Horse Comments:
#6 Last Call Zondlo (7-2) chased from second from an outer post and prevailed by a half-length in a $10k/3L affair at this distance at DMR Aug. 31. He battled on the pace from the inside post and missed by a half-length in a CA-bred OC-20k/1x sprint at LRC Sept. 19, and was second again at SA Oct. 25. Armando Ayuso is his new rider and he should be right up on the pace.
#7 Western Freedom (3-1) won back-to-back dirt sprints at SA in April (CA-bred MSW) and May (CA-bred OC-50k). He was up the track in the Snow Chief on turf and was 6th of 7 in the Real Good Deal at 7f on dirt. He added blinkers and went back on lasix in a local OC dirt sprint Aug. 31 and he raced wide and finished 7th of 8. He dropped to the Clm-12.5k level and got back on the beam as the favorite Oct. 30 and Mark Glatt claimed him that day. He is confidently up in class and an outside stalking trip is expected.
#3 Pokernightatvees (2-1) won a local CA-bred OC-20k/1x dirt sprint July 18 and dropped all five starts since. He was a close third in a SA dirt sprint Oct. 24 and Doug O’Neill claimed him for $20k that day, and he returned a week later and finished 7th of 11 at one mile. He is down in class and back in a sprint.
#5 Don’t Fly Stand By (8-1) added blinkers and landed the show in his last pair and he was 1 1/2 lengths behind Last Call Zondlo last time. He remains above his claimed level for Librado Barocio. He finished in the top three in 8 of 9 starts.
