Horse Comments:
#9 One Nine Hundred (3-1) missed by a neck in his 6f bow on Jan. 11 and winner T Craft captured an OC race in February and won the Jimmy Winkfield on March 15. He ran into buzzsaw Colloquial second time out and that one clicked right back in the Lafayette. This gelding set the pace from the inside post and ran off the screen as the favorite in a 6f MSW affair at AQU March 29. He was the favorite in the Chick Lang at PIM on May 17 and he battled through above par splits and weakened to 5th of 11. He was the favorite again when last seen in an OC-50k/1x sprint at SAR July 6 and he opened up a large lead and scored by 1 3/4 lengths. He is fast early and owns quality pace and speed ratings, and he looks like a solid contender from the outset under his new rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. He rated in his bow and drew a comfortable post this time, and Morley says that he has been more relaxed in his recent works. Don’t be surprised if he tracks the pace and gets the jump on the closers. The NY-bred colt is gearing up for state bred stakes races at AQU this winter.
#6 Eglise (4-1) was claimed out of back-to-back show finishes in May and July, and he added blinkers and romped by 14 lengths as the chalk for his new trainer Mike Maker in a $30k claiming extended sprint at Ellis Park Aug. 18. He was 7-2 in a similar KEE affair at 7f on Oct. 4 and he set the pace and held the show (Thoughtthatcounts 2nd). Luis Saez is his new rider and he owns running style versatility.
#7 Echo Again (7-2) earned quality numbers in back-to-back runner-up finishes in August, and he was beaten 16 lengths as the favorite at 7f on Oct. 4. He is 0-for-7 this year (4 minor awards) and went 1-for-8 in 2024 (4 minor awards). He might take too much win action and is probably best used underneath.
