Horse Comments:
#1 Mailata (5-2) did not know what he was doing in his first two sprints, and he stretched out, added blinkers, made the lead, and graduated by 2 1/2 lengths at one mile Oct. 29. He cut back to seven panels and easily went all the way in the PA Nursery in the slop Nov. 26. He improved his speed ratings in all four starts and he should be all over the pace from the inside post.
#2 Tough Guy Tony (4-1) won three of his last four starts and he proved that he could sit off the pace and finish in the South Mountain at Penn National in the slop Nov. 26. He will probably try to track his stablemate Mailata.
#7 Higher Sense (15-1) moved to dirt, chased the pace, and was clearly second best behind Mailata as a 58-1 longshot Oct. 29, and he stumbled badly at the start and was 5th of 7 as the beaten favorite Nov. 24. He turns back and might hit the board at a price.
