#4 Wakuda (7-2) was part of the exacta in all four dirt sprints, and she stalked and scored in her last two starts as the favorite. She won the Zia Park Princess last time and projects a tactical trip under her new rider Joel Rosario. She breezed a half-mile at OP on Dec. 20.
#5 Walk Away Kaye (3-1) was 7-1 in her RP sprint bow Nov. 15 and she rallied to win by a half-length, and the 2-3 finishers were next-out winners. She was 5-1 in the Astral Spa second time out and she landed the place behind Counting Stars, and that runner clicked right back in the Year’s End Stakes. She will try to get involved from off the pace.
#7 Woodstock (2-1) has tactical speed and the outside post. She cruised to nice wins in a pair of her outings including a stakes victory as the favorite at RP in September. She was third in the Myrtlewood at KEE in October and runner-up On Time Girl dusted her in the Fern Creek at CD in November. She added blinkers and was beaten a dozen lengths in the aforementioned Fern Creek.
#2 Evolution (15-1) ran fast enough to compete with these when she romped at this distance at GP Oct. 25. She pressed, led, and finished 3rd of 9 (beaten 6 3/4 lengths) in the Sandpiper last time. John Ortiz is her new trainer and Ricardo Santana, Jr. is her new rider, and she might be the one to catch.
