Hat trick for Kazushi Kimura (3 route wins – 2 turf wins). Emisael Jaramillo booted home a pair (dirt sprints). Michael McCarthy saddled two turf route winners and Kimura rode both.

Grade 3 La Canada (8.5f): Brilliantly was the favorite and she set the pace. Her stablemate Nafisa ($6.60) tracked from second, engaged the leader, took over, and kicked away to win by 4 3/4 lengths. Jane Austen rallied from the outside post to finish a clear second and Brilliantly was best of the rest in third. Ooty (4th), So There She Was (5th), and Fugitive Star (6th) also ran. Kazushi Kimura rode the winner for Bob Baffert. Fractions: 23.65, 47.34, 1:11.47, 1:37.97, 1:44.77.

Baffle Stakes (6.5T hillside): Track Tiger set a pressured pace and expected closer Later Than Planned (IRE) surprisingly pressed from the outside post. Even money favorite Hey Nay Nay (IRE) was in the mix in third and he took a short lead in the stretch but Greenwich Village ($11) closed from last of 7 and got up late to win by a neck. Hey Nay Nay was second and Later Than Planned edged Tiger Track by a neck for the show. Bust Out (5th), Won for Lou (6th), and Cal’s Goal (7th) also ran. Juan Hernandez rode the surface switching winner for Bob Baffert. Fractions: 22.41, 44.25, 1:06.76, 1:12.63.
