Horse Comments:
#3 Valtellina (5-2) won back-to-back state bred optional-claiming flat mile races (one turn) at Aqueduct in April and May, and cut back a furlong and ended up 4th of 7 in the Bouwerie at Saratoga on June 4. She runs like she will handle longer distances and has an okay pedigree for two turns as well. Her winning rider Romero Maragh is 3-for-8 with Raymond Handal recently and she figures to stalk the pace.
#1 Vehemente (8-5) was part of the trifecta in her last seven dirt sprints and she won her last three starts. She should impact the pace from the inside post under Kendrick Carmouche.
#2 Lottie Margaret (3-1) won two straight flat mile races by 10 lengths earlier this year. She landed the place in the Maddie May in March and stalked wide from the outside post and was last of 5 at one mile May 1.
#5 Mischief Lady (7-2) stretches out and might be the target. She wired the field in her last two sprints.
#4 Practically Summer (15-1) is still a maiden after six starters and is not fast enough to compete with this group.
