WELCOME TO THE RUNAWAY HORSE!

The Runaway Horse founder Jarrod Horak specializes in California thoroughbred racing. Nicknamed “calkid” in the 90’s by his racetrack cronies because of his penchant for the Southern California racing circuit, Jarrod hit the 1996 superfecta in the Kentucky Derby and bought his first computer later that year. He started selling full card analysis in 1998 and has been going strong ever since.

Jarrod Horak was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and has been handicapping thoroughbred races since 1980. He served two seasons as Track Handicapper/TV Host for Louisiana Downs and has a long time association with racing websites Horse Racing Nation and Today’s Racing Digest. He currently resides in Maryland with his wife Stacy, and their rescue dogs Riley and Rosie.

In addition to full card analysis, which can be found on the Shop page, The Runaway Horse also features daily free picks, weekly California racing stakes recaps and reports, and Breeders’ Cup and Triple Crown Series blogs and videos.

Jarrod’s wife Stacy is the lead photographer at The Runaway Horse, and she edits all of the videos. She is definitely the creative leader. She owns and operates Botanical Moon: Soap Made Naturally.

Josh Chicorelli (Dr. Atlas) is the newest edition to The Runaway Horse family. Jarrod & Josh met in Louisiana in 2011 and were colleagues at Horse Racing Nation and Derby Wars.

Originally from Upstate New York, Josh (also referred to as Dr. Atlas in racing circles) has been a long time follower and supporter of the “Sport of Kings”.

Mr. Chicorelli worked for Horse Racing Nation and DerbyWars from 2011-2013 and has been a local at Saratoga Race Course for over a decade. In his spare time, Josh writes handicapping articles and posts free picks.

Josh received his BS in New Media Marketing from RIT in 2011 and completed his Masters in Business Administration from RPI in 2018.
