Horse Comments:
#8 Tommy Jo (2-1) looked like a future stakes horse in her local 6f bow July 26. She stalked the pace and won by 3+ lengths and runner-up Tennessee Belle returned to romp by 7+ lengths as the favorite on Aug. 16. Kendrick Carmouche is 3-for-3 with Todd Pletcher and I am expecting her to stalk, pounce, and score again.
#1 Ornellaia (9-2) looked good rallying from off the pace in her 6f bow Aug. 2. She was 9-2 that day and overcame an awkward start. Chad Brown’s $1.1 million Girvin filly will probably appreciate the added furlong of this race.
#4 Mythical (5-2) wired the field in her first three starts at 4.5f, 5.5f, and 6.5f. She will try to go all the way again in her longest and toughest test to date.
#2 Meringue (10-1) showed decent late interest in both starts. She could not get to Mythical in a runner-up finish at 6.5f last time, and she figures to like this extended sprint.
