#1 Explora (8-5) was 20 cents on the dollar in her local 5.5f bow Aug. 17 and she made the lead and won easily by 4+ lengths. Bob Baffert’s $350k Blame filly sports two local works since her last and could easily go all the way again under Juan Hernandez.
#2 Himika (2-1) was 1-2 in her 5f debut at SA June 12 and she chased from second and won by 6 lengths (runner-up next-out winner). She was 20 cents on the dollar in the local G3 Sorrento at 6f on Aug. 10 and she chased from the inside post, took over, and scored by 4+ lengths. Bob Baffert’s $900k Curlin filly fired a local 5f bullet for this Aug. 31. Juan Hernandez opted to ride Explora in this spot and Kazushi Kimura takes over on this one and he is 0-for-6 with this outfit.
#5 Bottle of Rouge (5-1) was no match for her stablemate Himika in a runner-up finish in her 5f debut at SA. She was 6-1 that day and they bet her down to even money in a local 6.5f MSW sprint on Aug. 9, and she dueled and kicked away to win by 6 3/4 lengths under Juan Hernandez. Mike Smith is her new rider and he is 0-for-3 with Bob Baffert recently.
#6 La Wally (8-1) stalked the pace and got up by a nose in her local 5.5f debut at 6-1 odds on July 19. Mark Glatt’s $300k Constitution filly sports five local works since her last start and Antonio Fresu is 24% with this outfit recently.
