Laurel Park 2025 Stakes Plays

Saturday’s (9-13-25) stakes picks from Laurel Park (Race 6, 7, 8).

LRL 6 (Sensible Lady Turf Dash, F&M, 6T) – Post Time  2:33 PM ET
Primary – #7 TOUPIE, #4 Lifelovenlaughter
Secondary – #5 Alla Breve, #6 Loon Cry

Horse Comments:

#7 Toupie (2-1) began the year with a G3 win in the Las Cienegas at 6.5T and was 4th, 6th, and 7th in her last three G3 starts. She won two listed turf sprint stakes in 2024 including the local Stormy Blues at 5.5T.

#4 Lifelovenlaughter (3-1) won her last three starts including back-to-back stakes wins in June (Jameela – 6T) and August (All Brandy – 8.5T). She turns back and likes this turf course (7 3-2-0).

#5 Alla Breve (12-1) is 5-for-8 with a second and at third at LRL. The late running mare reconnects with her winning rider Horacio Karamanos and she flees the rail and will try to get involved late.

#6 Loon Cry (6-1) won this race from off the pace last year and lost all five starts since. She needs to rediscover her sharp form.

Wagers:

#7 to win

Exacta box 4-7

Trifecta 4-7/4-5-6-7/4-5-6-7

LRL 7 (All Along, F&M, 9T) – Post Time  3:02 PM ET
Primary – #6 NO SHOW SAMMY JO
Secondary – #7 For Arrogate, #1 Sirona

Horse Comments:

#6 No Show Sammy Jo (9-5) won this race as the 1-2 favorite last year and missed by a nose in the G3 Long Island to end her 2024 campaign. She returned from a layoff and was up the track in the G1 Jenny Wiley in April, and she faded as the beaten favorite in the G1 Gamely in May. She set the pace and held the place as the beaten favorite in an allowance turf route in NY in June, and she exits a 4th of 7 (beaten 14+ lengths) in the G2 Glens Falls on yielding ground at SAR on July 27. This is a better spot and she reconnects with her winning rider Jorge Ruiz.

#7 For Arrogate (10-1) rallied for the show in a MSW turf route at DMR last time and runner-up The Mizen Queen was a next-out winner. The maiden might be able to rally for a share.

#1 Sirona (5-2) is an overseas shipper now conditioned by Graham Motion. This is not the deepest stakes race and I would not be surprised if she needed the outing.

Wagers:

#6 to win

Exacta 6-7

Trifecta key 6/1-7

LRL 8 (Laurel Dash, 3&up, 6T) – Post Time  3:33 PM ET
Primary – #3 MISCHEVOUS ANGEL, #4 Live High Live Low
Secondary – #7 Fierce and Strong, #10 Had to Have Him

Horse Comments:

#3 Mischievous Angel (4-1) was 7th and 4th in his last two stakes starts at SAR. He landed the place in his lone local turf try in the Henry Clark at 8T in April, and he is 2-for-3 at this distance on turf.

#4 Live High Live Low (7-2) returned from a layoff and wired the field in a flat mile turf race as the favorite at MTH Aug. 2, and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He turns back in his second start of the year and he landed the place in both starts at this distance.

#7 Fierce and Strong (8-1) is a 10-for-27 win type and his victories this year were at 5T, 5.5T, and 8.5T. He had his 3-race win streak snapped when finishing an even 4th of 6 in a PA-bred stakes race at 5T Aug. 15.

#10 Had to Have Him (9-2) returned from a layoff and won a local off the turf sprint in May. He was third in the Ben’s Cat at this course/distance in June, and he rallied to miss by a neck in a stakes race at CNL at 5.5T Aug. 9. He drilled a local 5f bullet for this Aug. 30.

Wagers:

#3 to win

Exacta box 3-4

Trifecta 3-4/3-4-7-10/3-4-7-10
