#3 G W’s Girl (4-1) won back-to-back listed stakes at this distance at Oaklawn in January and February. She caught the slop and was 4th of 5 in the G2 Beaumont in April, and stumbled at the start and finished 4th of 11 in the G3 Miss Preakness in May. Last time, she looked uncomfortable tracking inside and finished 3rd of 8 (beaten 8 3/4 lengths) in a stakes race at Colonial. Jaime Rodriguez got acquainted with her last time and she fits with these on her best day.
#2 Maida (2-1) was forwardly placed and won her last two starts at this distance by a combined 13 1/2 lengths. She added blinkers and graduated by 9 1/2 lengths as the favorite under Saturday’s rider Sheldon Russell, and she cruised by 4 lengths at Delaware on Aug. 9. Brittany Russell’s promising filly is getting faster.
#4 Conquerthosewecan (9-2) was part of the exacta in five of six starts. She exits a sharp win at Colonial and gives Brittany Russell a second forwardly placed contender. She reconnects with Jevian Toledo and he guided this one home in a local maiden sprint last fall.
