#9 Measure (5-1) broke last from post 10 and ended up 5th of 11 (beaten 7.5 lengths) in her dirt sprint debut at CD Sept. 11. The $250k Essential Quality filly fired a half-mile bullet for this Oct. 1 and Ortiz Jr. is 2-for-6 with Mark Casse. Barn has decent stats with second timers and first route starters and dam has produced four winners from six starters (1 stakes winner). She earned a quality late pace rating in her bow and might appreciate the added ground of this race.
#1 Kayla’s Komet (8-5) was 18-1 in her Ellis Park dirt sprint bow Aug. 23 and she stalked the pace from post 10, led, and was second best, and the show finisher was a next-out winner. Bret Calhoun is a profitable 20% with his first route starters and she drilled a local 5f bullet for this Sept. 30. Gabriel Saez rides back and he is 0-for-6 with this barn.
#2 Melody Maker (6-1) broke last of 10 and rallied wide for the show in her 6.5T bow at KD Sept. 6. Dam has tossed four winners from six starters (1 stakes winner) and the $260k Maclean’s Music filly stretches out and switches surfaces. Tyler Gaffalione is her new rider and Mark Casse is a profitable 17% with his first route starters.
#6 Bisclavret (10-1) stalked and weakened at 6-1 odds in her turf route bow at SAR Aug. 8. George Weaver shows a profit with second timers and dam has produced three winners from four starters (2 stakes winners). Profitable route rider John Velazquez takes the call and he is 2-for-9 with this outfit.
