Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-22-25

Grade 3 Native Diver (9f): Clouseau scratched and that left a 4-horse field. Nevada Beach was the overwhelming favorite but surface switcher British Isles made him work for it. The latter pressed outside, led, and fought hard all the way to the wire, but Nevada Beach ($2.20) kept on grinding away and was best by a half-length. Westwood set a pressured pace and was a clear third, and Indispensable trailed throughout. Juan Hernandez rode the winner for Bob Baffert and he galloped out with energy and was just getting warmed up at a mile and an eighth. Fractions: 23.42, 47.17, 1:11.25, 1:35.92, 1:48.35.

Nov. 22 Claims: Race 2 – City of Angels ($10k, Sean Williams). Race 4 – Tupelo ($20k, Edwin Alvarez). Race 5 – Amelia’s Echo ($12.5k, Sean Williams). Race 6 – Freya ($25k, Jorge Periban).

The $2 Pick 6 carryover pool was $476,910 and tickets with six winners paid $42,879.40. Tickets with five winners paid $127.80.

Del Mar Recap for Sunday (11-23-25)

Fast main track and good turf course. Three front running sprint winners on dirt (5.5f, 6.5f, 6.5f). On the turf course, a 7-2 stalker won the 5f opener, a 6-1 midpack stalker won at 8.5f, a 7-1 stalker scored at 5f, midpack stalking favorite Mrs. Astor got up in the nick of time in the Red Carpet (G3) at 1 3/8 miles, and a stalking favorite graduated in the flat mile finale (rail at 12 feet).

Hat trick for Umberto Rispoli (2 turf route wins). Bob Baffert saddled two MSW dirt sprint winners. Doug O’Neill added two winners.

Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-23-25

Grade 3 Red Carpet (11T): Will Then made the lead and Cornelia Fort chased from second. My value top choice Public Assembly got the run of the race. She saved ground tracking the pace, stayed inside and hit the front in the stretch and briefly looked home free, but post time favorite Mrs. Astor ($5.40) also worked out a comfortable inside trip, followed my top choice, and surged late to score by a neck. Public Assembly ran too good to lose and was clearly second best, and Paradise Lake ran on for the show in a quality effort. Sun of Hill (4th), Will Then (5th), Venganza (6th), Cornelia Fort (7th), Hey Jessie (8th), and Musical Rhapsody (9th) also ran. Umberto Rispoli rode the winner for Jonathan Thomas. Fractions: 24.95, 49.89, 1:15.77, 1:41.58, 2:06.79, 2:18.86.
