#9 Oscar’s Hope (5-2) was part of the exacta in his first five starts. Two of his wins were at this distance, and he won the Jean Laffitte at 7.5f in November. He stalked slow fractions and weakened to last of 8 in the Smarty Jones at 1 1/6 miles last time. He sports four Fair Grounds works since his last and cuts back to his winning trip, and he projects a stalking trip from the outside post under his new rider Luis Saez.
#8 Ewing (6-5) wire in the field both of his dirt sprints last year. He aired by a dozen lengths as the favorite in his 5.5f bow and that was a fast race. He beat three rivals second time out and his number dropped off. This is his first start since August 2025 and Mark Casse’s $585k Knicks Go colt should be all over the pace.
#4 Swung (6-1) stalked the pace and was second best behind runaway winner Obliteration in the local Renaissance as a 27-1 longshot at this distance Jan. 3. He should work out a similar tactical trip in this spot and he might be good for a share.
#2 Tiz Mary’s Comet (8-1) is now the inside speed following the defection of #1 Dirty Rich. He won his LA-bred maiden claiming dirt sprint bow by 2 lengths at 7-1 odds and the show finisher was a next-out winner. He was 25-1 in a state bred allowance dirt sprint at FG second time out and he battled on the pace and missed by a neck. He earned a better number last time and steps up in class and should get tested throughout.
