Check out my Monday (7-27-26) Gulfstream Park Race 8 analysis below.
GP 8 (OC-25k/1x, 3&up, 8f dirt) – Post Time 3:56 PM ET
Primary – #10 NOBLE J, #8 Latch the Hatch
Secondary – #7 Skellig Michael, #5 Icelander
Horse Comments:
#10 Noble J (7-2) removed blinkers and lasix and ran well in his last two local Florida-bred sprints. He returned from a layoff and was clearly second best at 6f May 23 (winner next-out winner), and he stalked and scored as the favorite at seven panels June 19 (runner-up next-out winner). The sharp 4-year-old gelding projects an outside stalking trip in his longest career test.
#8 Latch the Hatch (3-1) won back-to-back local extended sprints in March and April, and landed the place in his last pair at 6f and 6.5f. He reconnects with his winning rider Edwin Gonzalez and should be right up on the pace.
#7 Skellig Michael (9-2) beat state bred company at this course/distance in January (runner-up next-out winner), and was clearly second best behind a next-out winner April 30. He weakened as the beaten favorite May 29 and has been freshened for this.
#5 Icelander (12-1) was part of the trifecta in 9 of 11 local starts. He earned competitive numbers in his last pair and should get pace to chase in his second start off a short layoff.
