#2 City Minute (3-1) battled on the front end from the inside post before weakening to 6th of 7 in the Powder Break on all-weather ground July 11. She scored by a length in a local flat mile turf race under Micah Husbands in April, and she chased the pace and landed the place in a similar flat mile turf race in May (winner next-out winner). She has a versatile running style and reconnects with her winning pilot Husbands (33% w/Saffie Joseph, Jr.).
#3 Defiant Lass (5-2) stretched out and graduated in a dirt route for Dale Romans at CD May 2025. She moved to the James Toner barn and rallied to miss by a neck in a local turf sprint July 5 (1st start in 14+ months). She stretches back out in her second start off a long layoff and she exceeded the winning par for this at 5T last time.
#7 Spicy Princess (6-1) is 0-for-8 with four minor placings on turf. She finished an even fourth in the same turf route Calathea exits and that was her first start in more than four months. The late runner sports back-to-back local bullets for this and might rally for a share.
#4 Calathea (7-2) moved to turf, set the pace, and missed by a neck at 8T July 13. She reconnects with her winning rider Edwin Gonzalez and she might be the one to catch in her third start off a short layoff.
